Discrimination

Employers are legally obliged to treat all employees (both existing and potential) equally under the Equality Act 2010. The Act states that an individual has been discriminated against if they have been treated less favourably at work than others because of:-

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Race
  • Religion or beliefs
  • Sexual orientation

In addition to their duties towards their employees, businesses must also not discriminate against people or groups in the provision of products and services.

Our expertise in dispute resolution enables our lawyers to identify issues from an early stage. This can be particularly important with discrimination issues. We have helped employers from large corporations to smaller owner-managed companies, across different industry sectors successfully defend claims of discrimination from employees and consumers. We also have experience of acting for individuals who feel they have been discriminated against at work.
